  • Rod & Line

Rod and line fishing is a traditional method where a single fishing rod, a length of fishing line and a hook (often baited) are used to catch fish. It is one of the most selective and low-impact fishing techniques, typically targeting individual fish rather than catching in bulk.

  • Netting

Netting is a fishing method that uses woven mesh to encircle fish, thrown by the crew on the boat. It is one of the oldest and most widely used fishing techniques in both commercial and subsistence fishing and produces a smaller by-catch than more intensive methods.

  • Trawling (Pelagic)

Midwater trawling (also called pelagic trawling) is a method in which a large, cone shaped net is towed through the water column rather than along the seabed. It is designed to catch schooling fish that swim well above the bottom such as mackerel, herring, whiting, and some squid species.
